Relaxation Restoration - Services Offered

Our Services Include:

  • Deep Tissue - a technique that releases chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on contracted areas, either following or going across the grains of muscles, tendons and fascia.

  • Swedish - a system of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of the muscles, combined with active and passive movements of the joints.

  • Hot Stone - a massage technique, used in conjunction with other modalities, in which warmed stones are placed on points, such as acupuncture points, and sometimes used as massage tools.

  • Trigger Point Therapy (also known as Myotherapy or Neuromuscular therapy) - a method that applies concentrated finger pressure to trigger points to break cycles of spasm and pain

  • Sports - Sports massage is designed to enhance athletic performance and recovery. There are three contexts in which sports massage can be useful to an athlete: pre-event, post-event, and injury treatment.

  • Stretching ( sport specific or yoga )

  • The Muscle Release TechniqueSM ( for description, see below )

The Muscle Release TechniqueSM is a unique injury therapy that combines compression, extension, movement, and breath to give the therapist a tool to provide, in many cases, relief from pain in one treatment. With the Muscle Release TechniqueSM scar tissue is broken up, the muscle is lengthened, muscle memory is restored and relief from pain starts immediately.

This technique changed the way I worked as a massage therapist. MRTSM is derived from a technique developed in Europe. For the past few years, MRTSM has been applied to chronic and acute soft tissue problems and the results have been profoundly successful. The technique was taught to me by Michael Young, NCTMB Instructor. I have had remarkable success using this technique with chronic and acute soft tissue injuries.

The success of the Muscle Release TechniqueSM is due to the method of treating the injury, the resulting adhesions and scar tissue and shortened muscles. Tendonitis is caused by the muscle becoming too tight, or short, from repetitive use. Deep tissue work only breaks up adhesions and scar tissue but does nothing to lengthen the muscle and relieve the pulling of the muscle on the attachment site. In using the Muscle Release TechniqueSM, we not only break up scar tissue, we lengthen the muscle, thus resulting in more flexibility, relieving nerve impingement and pain. By using this technique regularly, the muscle memory is restored and most pain sufferers get relief.

All massage therapists and physical therapists know that when there is an injury to the muscle, scar tissue is the result. Scar tissue will keep the muscle inflexible, thus the muscle length is shortened. After a period of time, the muscle memory is lost and the chance of re-injury is increased. Nerve impingement is almost always associated with this condition, resulting in PAIN! Cross fiber work and/or deep tissue massage will only give the client temporary relief.

With the Muscle Release TechniqueSM, the client is placed in particular positions so that the muscle begins to stretch in a very specific direction of plane. Then pressure is applied directly into the focal point of the affected tissue. The combination of a specific extension, precise pinpoint compression, and an exact plane of movement, while working with the breath, can produce an immediate RELEASE! The scar tissue is broken up and the muscle length is restored. The results--no more pain for the client!

The main reason for the success of the Muscle Release TechniqueSM, is that it is a way of treating the injury, and the resiliant adhesions and scar tissue. When the Muscle Release TechniqueSM is used regularly, it not only prevents injuries, it helps to achieve a speedy recovery.
